Grappe de Pinot Blanc

Temperature: 12°

Aging: 5 years

Taste it

Fresh wine with discreet fruitiness, with notes of peach, apple and floral hints. Without being exuberant, it perfectly expresses the primary aromas. Pleasant, tender with medium acidity, it represents a happy medium in the range of Alsace wines.

Pair it

Drink chilled but not iced (12°C), Pinot Blanc is a starter wine but also a main course. It goes well with all simple preparations, fish, white meats, poultry, egg-based dishes (casserole eggs, omelettes, quiches). It is also welcome with mild cheeses (gruyère cream, fresh square…).

It is one of the most versatile of Alsace wines appreciated for its very versatile side for its lightness!

Its orignins

Also called Klevner, it is the white form of Pinot Noir. It was only after the Congress of Chalons, in 1896, that this variety was distinguished from Chardonnay. Pinot Blanc and the Auxerrois grape variety (Auxerrois de Laquenexy) are frequently associated under the same name Pinot Blanc or Pinot. It is very often used to make base wines for Crémant d'Alsace

Grappe de Pinot gris

Temperature: 12°

Aging: 5 years

Taste it

With a less pronounced bouquet than that of Riesling or Gewurztraminer, it is reminiscent of burnt wood, a smoky side, sometimes the fragrant loaf of bread straight from the baker's bakery. Its opulence and its very present body make it a wine that offers many possibilities of alliance, in particular with white meats and game birds, and of course foie gras!

Drink chilled but not iced (12°C), with fish in sauce, white meats...

Its orignins

A famous legend claims that around 1565 vine plants would have been brought back from the city of Tokay (Hungary) by Baron Lazare de Schwendi, who served the House of Austria in its fight against the Turks. Owner of land in the country of Baden and Alsace, he would have ordered to multiply these plants in Kientzheim

But, according to the theses of several ampelographers, it is likely that the grape variety brought back by Lazarre de Schwendi did not correspond to the famous Hungarian wine. Pinot gris, originally from Burgundy, is renowned for its qualities and its ability to produce highly concentrated wines.

Called Grauer Tokayer before 1870, Pinot Gris was then successively named Tokay Gris, Tokay d'Alsace, Tokay Pinot Gris and finally, since April 1, 2007, Pinot Gris.

Its origins

From the best hillsides, mainly family estates, for the most part

Grappe de pinot noir cuvée réservée

Taste it

The beautiful color of this wine is very representative of the traditional Pinot Noir in Alsace. The very expressive nose develops a very elegant, very fruity bouquet, with remarkable typicity. The palate is soft, but structured with barely perceptible coated tannins.

Pair it

Drink chilled but not iced (12°C). Goes wonderfully with red meats, meat-stuffed vegetables, game, cheeses, Tartes Flambées or Munster cheese.

Its origins

Even if Alsace is best known for its white wines, many documents relating to inventories of abbey cellars and wine tithes levied by the church in the Middle Ages, report considerable proportions of red wine. Among the 40 grape varieties used at that time, Pinot Noir figured prominently. Very curiously, a decline in this production began at the end of the 16th century and only a few Alsatian localities kept the tradition of red wines (Ottrott, Saint Léonard, Boersch, Saint Hippolyte, Rodern, Marlenheim…). What many consider today as a novelty is in reality only a legacy of the past which is enjoying increasing success.

Grappe de Pinot Noir

Temperature: 18°

Aging: 7 years

Taste it

The garnet color precedes the slightly cooked red fruits. Complexity in the mouth that we make last for pleasure until revealing notes of vanilla. The tannins are melted and announce the barrel passage, but without exaggeration. The last feeling is very fine.

Pair it

To be drunk at room temperature (18°C), this Pinot Noir vinified in Alsatian style retains a great deal of freshness and fruit. It is recommended to consume it chilled. It lends itself perfectly to the accompaniment of a whole meal, whether it is all kinds of starters or fish, or the meats and cheeses that follow.

Its origins

The cuvée à l'Ancienne is made up of a blend of Pinot Noir aged in oak barrels. It makes it possible to complexify the pretty fruitiness and the beautiful material that Pinot Noir can offer. The aging lasts 8 months.
